Measuring Guide

Follow these simple steps to accurately measure your space for the perfect catio design

Tools You'll Need

Tape measure
Pen or pencil
Paper or notepad
Smartphone (optional)
1

Measure the Length

Using your tape measure, measure the full length of the area where your catio will be installed. Record this measurement in your preferred unit:

  • Feet and inches (e.g., 10ft 6in)
  • Metres (e.g., 3.2m)
  • Centimetres (e.g., 320cm)
  • Millimetres (e.g., 3200mm)

Make sure to measure from wall to wall or boundary to boundary for the most accurate result.

2

Measure the Width

Next, measure the width of the space. This is the measurement perpendicular to the length you just recorded.

Again, use the same unit of measurement as before for consistency. If the space is irregular, measure at the widest point and note any variations.

3

Measure the Height

Measure the height from the ground to the highest point where the catio will extend. This could be:

  • The eaves of your house
  • A window sill
  • A fence top
  • Any other vertical boundary

Accurate height measurements ensure your catio fits perfectly and provides maximum space for your cats.

4

Check for Obstructions

Carefully inspect the area and note any obstructions that may affect the catio installation:

  • Downpipes - measure their position and diameter
  • Vents or outlets - note their location and size
  • Windows or doors - measure their position and dimensions
  • Electrical fixtures - mark their locations
  • Uneven ground - note any slopes or level changes

Take photos with your smartphone to help visualise the space and share with our design team.

5

Record Everything

Write down all your measurements clearly on paper, including:

  • Length, width, and height
  • Unit of measurement used
  • Location and size of any obstructions
  • Any special notes about the space

Consider drawing a simple sketch of the area with all measurements labelled. This will be invaluable when designing your perfect catio.

Important Note

Accuracy is key! Double-check all measurements before submitting. If you're unsure about any measurement, our team is happy to help. You can also send us photos of the space for additional guidance.
